Parenting can be viewed as the mechanism for the transmission of civilization from one generation to the next. Quite an awesome undertaking!
But how well thought out is this mammoth task? Usually, not very. Although most parents have a general idea of wanting "the best" for their child, they often need guidance about their own unique situation when problems occur. I've often joked that you need a Driver's license to drive, but no one is required to get "training" to parent.
Most parents are loving and well intentioned, but invariably find themselves frustrated or confused by their child's struggles through various developmental stages.
Other parents have had such dysfunctional parenting themselves, that they feel uncertain and insecure about their own parenting ability.
My work with parents is designed to 1) give you a clear assessment of your child's/family's problems, and 2) to offer workable, realistic strategies to solve the problem.
By using empirically based outcome research, combined with many years of clinical experience, I help you learn specific parenting skills to address your specific needs.
