This area is very dear to me because it is such a very special time in a woman's life, as well as the life of the couple. My doctoral dissertation was on this topic as it relates to healthy postpartum adjustment. I researched how healthy adjustment is affected by significant stress, and by other factors such as the women's self-concept and her decision whether to go back to work right after the birth.

One of the most gratifying aspects of my career has been my work with the new Moms and ultimately, the new parents. My work is designed to help them traverse the very rocky/crazy/sleep-deprived/happy time of having a new baby, and hopefully making a healthy transition from life as a couple, or single, to life as a parent.
